Founded in 2019 by Roland Beaulieu, Adam Gaudet, and the late Owen Hann, Route 225 began as a versatile wedding and event ensemble before evolving into one of Prince Edward Island's most respected musical groups.
After the sudden passing of bassist Owen Hann in 2022, the band honored his legacy by continuing and expanding. The addition of acclaimed bassist Deryl Gallant and multi-instrumentalist Todd MacLean brought new depth, and in 2026, Jeff Doherty assumed primary keyboard duties, further elevating their signature sound.
Now recognized as PEI's premier backup band, Route 225 has backed standout artists including Amanda Jackson, Kelley Mooney, Lawrence Maxwell, Brooke MacArthur, Anica (Canada's Got Talent) and Trinity Bradshaw. Their reputation for professionalism and excellence has secured them three consecutive years supporting performers at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, plus a packed schedule of their own.
With exceptional musicality and an expansive, genre-spanning repertoire, Route 225 specializes in "the best songs you may have forgotten." From the soulful grooves of Little Feat to the electrifying energy of Tina Turner — they deliver unforgettable, crowd-pleasing performances every time they take the stage.
For over 25 years, Roland has been called upon as a support musician and musical director on guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, keyboards and background vocals — locally and internationally. Aside from being an accomplished and sought-after solo acoustic performer and founding member of Route 225, Roland has backed numerous artists including the award-winning Siren et Matelo, Golden Buzzer winner Anica, Carroll Baker, Trinity Bradshaw, Amanda Jackson, Ghostown, Brooke MacArthur and more. He is also part of a family band named Beau with his siblings and father.

Deryl Gallant has been involved in the PEI music scene for over 30 years.
